Textures

It is the driest time of year and the light from midday onward is very harsh.  It seems to bleach the saturation out of everything. The sky itself looks whitish and misty. The soil is dry and very dusty.  Most things appear to be faded ochers and olive greens. There are typical desert plants here such as cacti and succulents. Because of the seasonal monochromatic effect, I have taken particular interest in the abundant textures that surround me here. I have taken these observations in the studio for experimentation with mulberry paper.
