Prepping the paper

These spacial and graphic experiments on the studio floor are also part of prepping the paper. The mulberry paper scrolls are 18" wide x 980" long. I crinkle the paper of each scroll a few times and then smooth out the crinkles with my hands and then finally I iron the paper on low heat. This process makes the paper more flexible and less likely to tear. Ironing this morning was a great way to start the day in the studio.
